---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a professor of teaching Japanese Cantonese, are you still struggling to choose which textbooks for your teaching?

Thinking of a gift for a Japanese friend living in Hong Kong, are you searching a useful and easy-to-read Cantonese textbook for him/her?

If you understand Mandarin and you are planning to learn Cantonese, would you like to have a textbook with the translation in both languages?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are limited Cantonese textbooks available in the market. Some of them were published many years ago, so the vocabulary and expressions as well as sentence structures are outdated.

It is inconvenient for teachers to check and update language usages every time before teaching.

Therefore, the editorial team, joined by experienced Cantonese teachers, has written and designed a new set of Cantonese textbooks for Japanese.

To be perfect, we continuously collected comments from Japanese students (who learnt Cantonese by using the first draft of the textbook) and made amendments. Over several years of revision, the book was eventually published.

The content covers vocabulary, grammar, useful expressions and oral practice. Students can learn vocabulary followed by grammar.

Through a series of practical exercises, students can make and say simple sentences which sustain their interest in learning.

In addition, special chapters such as yam cha and shopping are introduced. Students can learn Cantonese, while increasingly understanding the culture and life in Hong Kong.

Since there is pinyin indication in both Cantonese and Mandarin in every chapter, students can also learn Mandarin. Since its publication, the book has been well received by many Japanese. The vivid pictures make learning more interesting.
